Sentence
The Threehundredandeightysixth
Overwhelmed by a
wave of angor, Jasmine dropped to her knees, aware that she was
hyperventilating but unable to stop until she was found by the first
two Officers to arrive: the margaritaceous WPC Isa Urquhart and her
partner, the rather excitable Trainee WPC Gertie Mountcastle; “'ello,
'ello, 'ello, wot 'ave we 'ere then?” said Gertie, breezily, for
she was quite smitten by Jasmine Juniper-Green since their first
meeting in Melrose and was delighted at this opportunity to further
their tentative friendship; “why don't you get her a cuppa and a
bag of chips from that Chippy round the corner? mind salt, vinegar
and tomato sauce, oh, and two sugars!” said Isa and Gertie seemed
nonplussed before blurting out: “on the chips? the sugars?” and
Isa laughed: “no WPC Dopey, in the tea!” and after giving
a thumbs-up, Gertie hurried out of sight and was back very quickly
with the poke of chips and a steaming mug of sweet tea; and Jasmine
fair gormandized the chips, washing mouthsfull down with great gulps
of tea, and then she was ready to give her statement!
