Sentence The Sevenhundredandsecond
Gordon Giddy tapped his screen, swiped and turned the ipad so they could all see it: the picture was of the pink Dolls House standing on the street, suddenly there were puffs of smoke all around the point where the walls join the earth; and slowly the house sank, or settled, as if it was dropping into a void; and at that moment, several canisters were tossed towards it from off-camera; "smoke bombs!" said Hyman Kaplan and Giddy grinned, still watching the black clouds obscure the house and rise into the Washington sky; "so what happened?" asked Sadie Moskowitz, and Giddy faced her: "the basement walls were packed with plastique, semtex, and when it blew, the walls and everything in the basement was atomized, turned to dust and particles, so the rest of the house just filled the void beneath it; the house is okay, the kids are okay, waiting for the leporine deliverer of Easter Eggs, you have to go in through a window on what's now the first floor, but otherwise, hunky dory; did the sight of it remind you of anything?" and he glanced round, as Kaplan said: "Twin Towers, the puffs of smoke!" and Giddy smiled, "same guys who did that! they don't come cheap but they are real magicians, perfectionists, the canisters won't be seen on the finished record, all anyone will know is that Doubleday struck a match and BOOM!" and Kaplan mused for a moment and asked: "why show
us all this, tell us that? do you think we'll keep shtum?" and Giddy spread his arms wide: "do I offer you this hierophany free, gratis and for nothing? come, life is not interminable, you know that better than most – as do these guys," he indicated the elderly proprietors of the Diner, "although in their case it may feel that way – they escaped alive only to be eaten from within by the nightmares of their past misdeeds and though they may pray for the release of death, it seems a long time in coming and something prevents them from taking that step themselves, I wonder what it is?" and Hyman opined: "the final judgement?" at which Giddy seemed unsure whether to agree or not, "maybe there is no finality in anything, or should I say, everything; aren't MacFarlane and Doubleday examples of that? supposedly killed in the thirteenth century they reappeared in this twenty-first! doesn't that make you wonder what is going on?"which was when Rose Mitnick said something shocking!
